
Poets on Painters and Sheldon Paintings Poetry Contest Reception

The opening reception for Poets on Painters, an exhibition organized by the Ulrich Museum of Arts in Wichita, Kansas, will feature the winners of the recent Sheldon poetry writing contest.

Winners of the Nebraska Poets on Sheldon Paintings Poetry Contest will read their winning entries before images of the artworks that inspired them. The winners will also be awarded their cash prizes.
The contest, which was open to Nebraska writers of all ages, drew more than 250 entries from January to mid-March.
The contest categories and judges were:
- Poetry written by K-5 grade students: poet Susan Aizenberg and UNO artist Gary Day
- Poetry written by 6-8 grade students: poet Grace Bauer and artist Edward Forde
- Poetry written by 9-12 grade students: poet Mary K. Stillwell and printmaker and book artist Karen Kunc
- Poetry written by adults, 18 and over: poet Hilda Raz and textile artist Michael James
